6/5/20 – Adams Community Bank donates $5,000 to North Adams Farmers Market Match
Adams, MA – June 5, 2020 – Adams Community Bank is pleased to announce a charitable contribution in the amount of $5,000 towards the Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to help the City of North Adams sustain their Market Match Program.
The Market Match Program assists North County residents with accessing locally sourced food by matching purchases made at the Farmers Market using Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) up to $30 per week. Many residents of Northern Berkshire have been faced with economic challenges amidst the COVID-19 pandemic and the Market Match program offers them support in acquiring fresh groceries, which results in financial support for our local farmers.
The City of North Adams Mayor Tom Bernard recently said, “This generous gift from Adams Community Bank to our Market Match program will make it easier for people in our community to purchase fresh, healthy, local food. It also provides added security to our great local farmers and food producers, allowing them to sell their produce and products to their neighbors and friends right here in North Adams. This is a great win-win – it meets a community need, supports our shared commitment to food access, and is aligned with Adams Community Bank’s mission.”
The Director of Community Events, Suzy Helme, added “The North Adams Farmers Market has taken great pride in offering a SNAP incentive program like Market Match for over a decade, but with the current state of the nation and our community it is needed now more than ever.
